As early as 1816, Rowley has been home to a Regular Baptist community. The church building was originally constructed in 1830 and has had several alterations and additions over its long history. There are two facilities under the care of the church community: the meeting house and vestry at 147 Main Street and the parsonage and church office at 153 Main Street. We are constantly working to improve and preserve these buildings for future generations.
In April of 2017 the church voted to call Pastor Charles Bordonaro as our full-time pastor. Charles was born and raised in Connecticut. After coming to know Christ as his Savior, he attended Baptist Bible College of PA where he earned Bachelor Degrees in Religious Education and Theology. He later continued his graduate studies at Empire State Baptist Seminary, Liverpool, NY and Baptist Bible Seminary, Clarks Summit, PA.
Prior to becoming the pastor of First Baptist Church, Pastor Bordonaro served as the senior pastor of churches in upstate New York, California, and lastly Northfield, MA. He and his wife, Donna, are the parents of four adult children. Pastor Bordonaro accepted the call to become the pastor of First Baptist Church on April 30, 2017. He had previously served as the church's Interim Pastor for fifteen months.
Pastor Bordonaro is the author of "Free To Be Me," a guide to biblical security. He has served on the boards of Empire State Baptist Seminary, Southwest Baptist Home Mission, and the Southern California Association of Regular Baptist Churches. His ministry includes, Bible teaching and preaching, evangelism, and counseling.
